Theonanacatl, a psilocybin containing mushroom, is a sacred entheogen. This mushroom is widely known by recreational users as ‘shrooms. However, Theonanacatl works differently—and certainly stronger—within a ceremonial setting or combined with Ayahuasca in an Ayahuasca workshop.
While Theonanacatl has similar effects to Ayahuasca, it is an entheogen that brings users primarily in contact with nature. The ceremonial use of Theonanacatl therefore requires a natural setting, preferably in a powerful shamanic place such as a nature reserve. In the Czech Republic, these places are still easily accessible.
Theonanacatl connects you to nature. You might respond powerfully to a spot in the woods, a gurgling stream or rocks on a mountain. The elements and animals react to your inner essential self and from this, you learn about your own nature.
When Theonanacatl is taken in a setting other than the quest, you are confronted with your behaviour towards other people and their reactions to you. In a group setting, family constellations spontaneously arise, confronting everyone with their attitude (and judgments) towards others.
But during the vision quest you are left to explore alone. You take Ayahuasca on the first night, and the sacred mushroom the following day.
The core of the Aya Vision Quest is spending 24 hours alone with the spirits of the plants. Through them, you receive the spiritual gifts of nature and the universe.
