Preparation begins the moment you decide to do the vision quest or Ayahuasca workshop. For those unfamiliar with Ayahuasca, we ask that you first participate in an introductory workshop at the Centre for Process Work or at Centre Aya Vision Quest. Even if you are not familiar with the ceremonial use of the sacred mushroom it is advisable to attend.
We, the coaching team members, would like to get to know before you take part in this exciting programme. If we feel that you are not ready, we might advise you to wait and participate in the vision quest at some future time.
Experience with entheogenics is required. Physically prepare yourself by doing sports and hiking, possibly supplemented with yoga and meditation. A few weeks before the vision quest, start adjusting your diet. Stop drinking alcohol, preferably stop smoking and also, start eating less. Stop eating meat (pork, at least), and cut out salt and sugar from your diet. This will make you physically and energetically clean to begin your journey.
What should you bring with you?
A sleeping bag, yoga mat and tent, in which you will do your actual vision quest. A watch, pocket knife and compass can come in handy, but are not necessary. A backpack is a good idea.
Bed linen is provided in the house where you will be staying. If you have any special dietary needs, we will need to know this in advance. Please keep in mind that eating during the week will be very simple and vegetarian.
We will spend the entire week together. You will be divided into small groups that will care for and support each other emotionally. Despite doing the core of the program me alone, we will work together sharing tasks, such as washing the dishes, preparing meals, readying the ceremonial space, and helping to collect firewood or light the stove, etc.
